GABA and Hydroxy-GABA blir lagt til FEI Equine Prohibited Substansces List

FEI List Group er en ekspertgruppe som avgjør hvilke stoffer som skal bli inkludert på FEIs liste over forbudte stoffer, og i hvilken kategori (forbudt eller kontrollert medisin).
Stoffet Gamma amino butyric acid (GABA) og Hydroxy-gamma butyric acid (Hydroxy-GABA) har fått oppmerksomheten til FEIs expertgruppe, av det amerikanske rytterforbundet (USEF), fordi de er ingredienser i et kommersielt produkt kjent i USA som ”Carolina Gold”. Basert på denne informasjonen har FEIs ekspertgruppe rådet FEI til å sende en umiddelbar advarsel mot bruk av GABA og Hydroxy-GABA. GABA og Hydroxy-GABA vil derfor bli lagt til lista over FEIs forbudte stoffer for hest (FEI List of Equine Prohibited Substances) med en 90-dagers implementeringsperiode.

The FEI List Group is the expert group tasked with determining which substances should be included on the FEI Equine Prohibited Substances List and in which category (Banned or Controlled Medication.)
The substances Gamma amino butyric acid (GABA) and Hydroxy-gamma butyric acid (Hydroxy-GABA) were recently brought to the attention of the List Group, primarily by the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) because they are ingredients in a commercial product known in the USA as ‘Carolina Gold’. GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitters and the USEF decided to prohibit it upon learning of documented adverse reactions in horses.
Based on this information, the FEI List Group has similarly advised the FEI to issue an immediate warning against the use of GABA and Hydroxy-GABA. GABA and Hydroxy-GABA will therefore be added to the FEI List of Equine Prohibited Substances with a 90-day implementation period as provided for in the rules.
Starting immediately any request to an FEI Official/ Veterinary Delegate to administer a substance containing GABA or Hydroxy-GABA at an FEI Event will not be permitted.
